We are home for the remainder of the summer and finally getting a chance to really settle in our new apartment. We love all of the extra space and Eli gets so much freedom since we were able to baby proof from the get-go. I mostly have baby safe items in all lower cabinets (Tupperware, dish towels, plastic items, baby toys, etc), all wires were arranged behind furniture, and of course, electrical plugs and door latches are where we need them. The difference in peace of mind with this apartment vs our other one is phenomenal.
We are working our way back into our regular routine and it really is a relief. Summer vacation is a blast and we've crammed so many fun things into our short time with our families (4th of july! a birthday party! scalloping! crabbing! family reunion!) (details and pics to come!), but there is nothing like coming home and having a little down time. We are lucky that our families can visit us often (and before Jonathan's next break for school), so coming home without knowing when our next trip back will be isn't all that bad.
We cancelled our cable and internet when we moved apartments so we have been without those for a few days now. Jonathan and I were saying how we don't really miss cable, but it will be a must when college football season starts. With that said, we are scheduled to get hooked back up on Thursday. More importantly though, our new rocker recliner for Eli's room will be here Thursday as well. I'm way more excited about reading books in a big comfy chair to my little boy than I am about pointless hours of TV!
Speaking of wasting time on the TV screen, it's time for an at home date night. Eli's fast asleep and we are going to watch the new Sherlock Holmes movie and drink Stewart's root beer while we cuddle on the couch. After a long couple of days of settling back into our home, I'm ready to settle into my hub's arms and relax!
